Microsoft to kill Internet Explorer, replacing it with new Edge browser. |
Microsoft announced that it will end its support for I.E. At the end of November 2020, Microsoft web apps will stop supporting it. Not only this but also on 17 August 2021, Microsoft online services and apps will stop supporting I.E. Online services include Office 365, Outlook, One Drive and many more.
Microsoft will delete Internet Explorer desktop app in 2021. The removal was due to high malware risk, low functionality and decline in users.
Microsoft is recommending its Windows users to migrate to new chromium-based Edge browser. Soon the I.E will be replaced by Edge browser. Microsoft is also planning to replace Edge with its newer version. Windows featured updates will include new Edge browser.
Microsoft is also encouraging businesses to stop using I.E. Internet Explorer has become an aged browser. The functionality is also limited compared to the new Edge browser. The countdown for I.E started when Microsoft launched its new browser in 2015.
